Ward 27

Case Slide No.:
10
Type:
TREPHINE
Description:
Biopsy :Even at very high power, cytoplasmic margins in this tightly-packed area of the biopsy are poorly defined. An amorphous proteinaceous exudate is observed just below 3 o’clock. Three Dutcher bodies are observed in this field. See comment .
Comment:
In two of the Dutcher bodies, pink cytoplasmic tongues only partially fill larger clear intranuclear spaces. The latter spaces reflect the true cross-sectional dimensions of initial cytoplasmic invaginations. Cytoplasmic tongues within these invaginations have probably undergone shrinkage because of processing artefact. A PAS stain would have shown them to be still strongly positive.
